Thank you for joining us today. Can everyone hear me OK?
I see other yes is coming through. Thank you.
So we won't get started and like another minute or so just to allow.
I'm still the jump in here.
OK, will go ahead and get started.
So thank you for joining us today. My name is Daisy again. Yeah and I will be your presenter.
And I'll be covering topics that for like most frequently asked that you submit it to us, and after I'm done with the presentation portion, we will open it up for questions.
We are hosting another web and our next week.
Tuesday next week, June 16, and it'll specifically cover a summer related questions, so please write this trip for that and submit questions before then so that we can address those during the webinar.
I understand that a lot of you have probably been trying to reach us via email.

And we we appreciate your patience. Our hope is that we can cover some of the most frequently asked about topics and answer your questions during this webinar.
This webinar is being recorded and the link will be provided to you this evening so that you can listen to it again.
You can also visit our website or financial aid home page to review other recorded webinars.
And please make sure that you're sharing this information with your friends on social media or just let anyone know who may be interested in learning more about the financial aid and.
Add to listen to these webinars in their own time.
He case I'm gonna go ahead and get started.
So financial aid awards have been made available to our knew. Entering freshmen and transfer student student population.
And we are anticipating that the financial aid awards for our continuing students will be available sometime late July.
If you're an incoming student and you do not have a financial aid award.
Please review your my aid portal.
Also, if you look at the slide here, you wanna log into your my air portal to review your file and to see if we need documentation.
So on the slide here you'll see.
You're see, I'm sorry this one has several topics, several options that you can click on so to see if your file is complete, you can click on my 8 application status.
And if I need documents are needed, they will be listed there as needed and up above which is needed there is awesome.
Content in red text that provides more details about how to submit your documents, how to upload them.
How to our to our system?
If you completed a 2021 fast and we have not received your application.
At this check to make sure that your admission application has your Social Security number.
And make sure that the Social Security number on your UC application admission application on your fasa are correct.
On your fast so you wanna make sure your Social Security numbers correct and your data birth is correct.
If you have not submitted a fasa application, you can still submit one now, so you can still log on to thefasa.edu.gov website and complete 1000. We will receive it.
How about a week? Usually takes about a week.
So some of you may have been selected for verification.
As you see on the slide, some of you may have to submit your your families financial documents like tax returns and W Twos.
So if that's the case, you wanna go ahead and submit those as soon as possible by the deadline posted on your might've portal.
If you've already submitted all of your documents.
And it says that we've received them. Just please allow us some time to process. It is taking us several weeks to review all of our files.
And we do hope to get them done. You know it's on a first come first serve, so as are coming in, we're reviewing them and our intention is to have them all done by the end of July.
Call somebody asked if there are any mistakes that you made on the Fasa and that you were select, and then you were selected for this process verification.
Will be somebody now these documents and then we need to make any corrections to your fasa application. We will do that for you.
If you submitted documents or office and it still says that the document is needed.
Um, just keep in mind that it does take us about 24 to 48 hours to change the status from needed to receive.
Uh, and it's possible that if you submitted a document that we didn't request, we may not be able to change that status to to receive. But once we review everything, if there is any additional information we will need, we will request it. So make sure that you're checking your email for any updates.
Some of you asked that what you could submit in place of, uh, the tax return transcript. So we're asking for parent tax information and student tax information if you filed.
If you're not able to obtain a copy of the tax return transcript from the IRS, you have the option of submitting a copy of the tax return that you have at home.
Uhm, you can upload that. Just make sure it's signed and dated and submit that along with your W twos and this is an informational needs to be submitted for 2018.
If you didn't file a tax return and you need to submit proof.
I bet you didn't file and you're not able to get that from the IRS.
You have the option to submit a form.
Do our office. We have a form available. Just go to your might portal, it'll be included there with the red where the red can't. Text is where you can have.
OK, so we're having a staff show you where it is here.
So if you go to our website.
Can we go back to our website? So if you go to our website?
And then you select the IRS data retrieval tool that.
Then it'll take you to a web page where you can.
I locate the certification of non filing form.
So if you upload that, you can fill it out and submit it to our office.
If we request that any documentation that you're not able to obtain, for example, somebody asked the were requesting a copy of their amended tax return, so an amended tax return is basically like a revision of the original tax return that was submitted to an iOS office. If you don't have a copy of it.
Or don't know whether you have one or if your parents have one. Check in with your tax preparer to find out if they can assist you with obtaining those documents.
As some of you are also mentioned that you're having issues obtaining a copy of your W2 forms.
Uh, so typically those W2 forms are provided to you by your employer.
If you're not able to access a W2 form, try to reach out to your employer.
And see if they can provide another if they can issue you another coffee, or if you're not able to obtain at them, commit assign statement or authors, just letting us know that you've made several times.
To obtain a W2 form and that you've been unsuccessful, and again, so basically any documents that we request. If you're not able to provide them to our office, and you're not sure what to give us, you can still upload a statement explaining.
Whatever the case is, I I don't have this document. This is what I have.
And that way we can provide to you an instruction on what else you can submit in place of it.
Now if we requested documentation and you're not able and you were not able to submit it on time, or you're not going to be able to meet the deadline.
I just strongly recommend that you submit your documents as soon as possible.
And depending upon the situation.
And you can reach out to our office via email and let us know what happened. So first.
Get the documents and submit into our office soon as possible. Once you submit everything that we requested. If an item is late and you'll be able to tell by your my 8 portal 'cause there's a due date. If the date received this late then you can contact us.
And explain what happened, why it was layin will provide you additional guidance on the options you have.
OK, so now I'm going to move on to awards and questions about awards.
So we have students asking how we can accept loans and the financial aid award. So if you have a financial aid award available.
Winnie
02:14:39 PM
when is the deadline for summer financial aid
And you like to start accepting the funding. You can do that through your mind portal.
You would have to accept the terms and conditions of your financial aid awards.
Uh, there's no set deadline for accepting the terms and condition, but we do recommend that you accept the funding sometime this summer so that the funding is available in time for you to pay your fees.
So the first payment of fees is due on September 15.
And so if you look at this screenshot here, it says calendar and feed that Lions.
Elizabeth Craney
02:15:25 PM
For entering Freshman and Transfers the deadline is today June 12th to apply for summer aid. The application is located on MY AID under the 2019-20 school year.
The payment you see, the deadline to pay fees in September 15, so the idea is that once you get your financial aid award, you wanna start accepting the funding and completing all the items needed, another for the fund needs to be made available to cover your bill by that deadline. And So what we recommend is that you review the awards except the aid. You can review the To Do List tab on your my ETA portal.
And and review there's a section for each award that you possibly maybe accepting, and it gives you instructions of what needs to be done in order for that financial aid award to actually be made available.
And So what will happen is you accept the funding. If you've done everything you need to do.
I come August. the University will assess registration things.
Two years old account, which is basically a student billing account.
And then we will start crediting money to yours on account.
Elizabeth Craney
02:16:35 PM
Continuing Summer deadline was May 15th for priority funding, however you can still apply late.
And if you have enough funding, if he's excepted enough funding to help cover your fees, it'll cover fees, registration fees and then possibly housing. The housing will be posted later in September.
I so you're funny, will pay fees first if there's enough to pay housing, it'll go towards housing. If you're living on campus and those charges are on the bill and then whatever is leftover will be processed to you as a disbursement as sometime late September.
Winnie
02:17:34 PM
do i submit another fafsa for that? is aid and grant given to first come first serve?
And for those of you who are looking at accepting some loans, you can read about the loan information on your might portal. So if you click on the loan names under your a toward, you should be able to see a popup that gives you information about each of the loans offered with the interest rates are and so forth. And then as far as the parent loan goes. So we're offering you likely student loans and then parent loans.
If you were offered a parent loan and you plan on accepting that loan, you can start that process on your my aid portal.
We currently do not have the application process open.
Yet, but it will open sometime in July or August. You will receive an email if you if you if your family chooses to accept the parental on your family will you will receive an email with instructions on how to apply.
Once the application is ready.
Elizabeth Craney
02:18:08 PM
For summer 2020, you do need to have a 2019-20 FAFSA completed first before applying for summer aid on MYAID.
And somebody asked about the financial aid award being more than your expenses, and so basically when we offer you financial aid for the year, it's only it's only going to be for one year and it's going to be based on your living situation. So if you look at this slide here, it tells you what your estimated cost is going to be in. That depends on your living situation. So we have one for living at home, living on campus, and living off campus.
So what you do is you can look at this to kind of get a sense of what you can anticipate to me funding for.
Elizabeth Craney
02:18:52 PM
The aid can be either grants or loans depending on your financial need.
You can compare that to the financial aid you were offered and decide how much of your funding you're gonna need to accept to help me these costs.
And if we offered you, if you feel like you don't need to take out the loans that we offered you to help cover all your expenses, then you don't need to take out the loans now or even at the beginning of the year. You can leave the loans in offer status.
And then if you at any point during the academic year, you decide that you're gonna need the loans to help cover your expenses. Those loans will be available for you to accept later.
If you're receiving any outside scholarship funding and you'd like to be able to use that towards your expenses, please let us know when you can report that through your my 8 portal.
Under the report my changes tab.
Yeah, you can report the name of the scholarship, the amount that you're receiving.
It'll take about 2 weeks for us to then revise your financial aid to incorporate the scholarship and then please know that what will happen is that we will reduce. We will revise any need based loans first to make room for your scholarship and then I need need based grounds. If it goes above the loan portion.
OK, and then as far as will go back to talk to talk about budgets.
So you may have reported on your file so that you were gonna be living on campus or off campus or whatever.
Whatever plans you had, if those plans end up changing due to issues surrounding kovid.
I then we will and your situation changes where you may, you may be plan to live on campus and now you're going to be living off campus or at home. We will be adjusting your financial aid awards to reflect your actual living situation.
And that could impact typically your grounds. 'cause as you can see here on the budgets the the biggest, the largest budget here is for someone who's living on campus.
And then it's living off-campus. It would be with your parents.
I love it. I'm sorry. Living off campus would be like an apartment. If you have an apartment on your own and then living at home would be living with parents.
So yes, if we have your financial aid award right now and it's baseless on on campus, but you end up living at home or off campus, your financial aid will be adjusted.
OK, so now I'm going to talk about Cole brand.
So for students will have an award. You may have noticed that your Cal Grant Award is an offer or unconfirmed.
Status, and that's normal.
If you are a new student, you just wanna make sure that you log into your web grants account. This is your state. Your California student aid Commission account.
And the link is provided here on the slide to make sure that you see Irvine is listed as your school of attendance.
And if that's the case, then there's nothing else that you need to do. We will be confirming Cal Grant awards sometime late summer, but before the feeds on line before the first payment deadline of September 15.
OK, now I'm gonna be talking about blue and gold.
So blue and gold is basically at us.
The scholarship program for students who.
Whose families earn less than $80,000 a year?
If you don't already have a Cal Grant.
And you don't have any other University grant funding.
To help cover system like these are the 12,570.
Then you may be eligible for some during cold and that'll happen sometime in October when we review our developer Perverse Scholarship program.
So if you have a financial aid award and you already have a Cal Grant, or if you already have any type brands that total up to at least 12,570, then you won't be receiving any additional blue and gold.
OK, so now I'll be discussing, uh.
Professional judgment over people call it different things like.
A family revision financial revisions special circumstance appeals it's basically for families whose financial situation has changed and you would like to appeal with our office to reconsider what your new.
What your new situation is?
So if if your family's financial situation has changed for do do any covert related reasons. So if your parents have lost their jobs, if their income has been reduced or their hours were reduced.
I was there any other kind of situations that you've had either this year or last year where your parents financial situation changed? We do have an appeal process that is now available.
Uh, if you would like us to provide you information about that, go ahead and send us an email.
We will send the information to you and you can start submitting information for the appeal. However, please just keep in mind that.
Uh, appeal review may not happen until October.
Our intention is to try to review them over the summer, but that may or may not happen because what we do first is we want to make sure that all of our students have a financial aid award available to them before the academic year begins, and then once we get everyone a financial aid award, then we want to focus on making time reviewing these appeals and trying to make revision, make revisions to students award.
I to hopefully assist with with any families who've had a financial changes.
Uh, so please keep that in mind. So if you're submitting an appeal and you have a financial aid award.
Are you may want to accept some of the fun in that we're offering you now or later in the summer and make other payment arrangements to meet the fafi deadline September 15.
And then once we get around to reviewing the appeal, if we need to make adjustments, for example, if you accepted some loans to be able to pay your fees, and then we review the appeal and it turns out that you're eligible for grant money, then we will make the revision. So if we need to reduce some of the loans you've accepted, we will do that, and then we'll offer you grounds.
OK, so now we're talking. We're gonna talk a little bit about housing.
And some of you asked him what what kind of revisions were gonna make on your your financial aid award. Depending on how the housing situation.
Um changes due to Kovid and I I have mentioned earlier that if you had planned to live on campus and that changes, we will be revising your financial aid awards based on whatever your actual living situation will be.
If you end up living in the dorms though, and the residence halls on campus.
And your and your expenses are a little bit higher than.
Uh, then what we've accounted for in the budget, then we can.
Um, consider making adjustments, so your awards, but that'll be on a case by case basis.
Uh, so you'll just have to reach out to us at that point.
Somebody else asked if any portion of the housing will be refunded if classes are will be changed to remote this fall quarter and you're not able to live on campus and.
That's kind of an ongoing discussion. I imagine that if you're not able to live on campus, uh, the the housing office will not charge you for any any living on campus expenses, and so it'll just be a matter of getting the financial aid revised to reflect whatever your actual living situation will be.
Uh, so now I'm gonna move on to talk about SAP.
So SAP stands for satisfactory academic progress and it's basically we certainly there. Certain academic requirements that you need to meet in order to maintain your eligibility for financial aid as a student. So if you look at this slide here.
Winnie
02:28:36 PM
do u know when we will hear back from housing?
Others, there's a GPA requirement that you have to meet. Whether your coming as a new student, uh, more continuing student. So for GPA purposes, you have to maintain a 2.0 GPA. There's academic pace you have to maintain. It's basically like a passing rate, so out of other classes that you take, you must pass at least 66.6% of the classes and then for units there is also a requirement, and that requirement changes depending upon if your first year, second year, third year.
Elizabeth Craney
02:29:09 PM
Please contact the housing office directly to find out about your options for living on campus.
And so if you're a continuing student currently.
Ann, you're you're finishing off the spring quarter. There are certain requirements that you are required to meet by the end of this spring.
If for example, so in this case the student is fine, it says here for this example that the student must have 27 units completed and they actually have currently 95.5 units. That person is OK.
But if whatever minimum requirement is listed there, and you're not going to meet it.
Hum, you'll be receiving an email from our office.
Because you will either need to appeal or you can take summer classes to help make up whatever units your short by so that you'll be able to continue receiving funding this upcoming fall.
Bianca
02:29:58 PM
to clarify, financial aide can change if on campus housing is more expensive?
And down below those SAP requirements, there's another box that says maximum time frame.
So there is a number of terms that you can receive financial aid.
For during your career here at UCI.
And then maximum or number of terms is kind of dependent upon whether you are come in as a freshman or if you come in as a transfer student.
Elizabeth Craney
02:30:24 PM
Yes, most likely your loan offers will be increased.
And so this page for continuing student. You be able you. You should be able to track this on your my eight account for our new popular new student population. This page will be available sometime in the summer so that you can start to planning accordingly with the information that's listed there.
And So what we do is at the end of every spring quarter.
Uh, we're going to check to make sure that your meeting these requirements, and if you're not meeting the requirements and you'll likely get an email from us about next steps.
Daniel
02:31:15 PM
So if housing is offered, will it be more expensive?
Somebody asked about academic pro probation with your Department, so if you are currently on academic probation and perhaps you're on a plan to make up whatever your grades or GPA, we will be able to continue funding you during that time.
But if at any point you become academically disqualified, then we won't be able to fund you.
Elizabeth Craney
02:31:33 PM
Please contact the housing office directly to find out actual cost.
Um at that point. So just make sure that you're maintaining whatever academic requirements your Department your Department is setting for you, and that you are also maintaining the requirements that we have. Because these requirements listed here on this on this.
Slide art for financial aid purposes. Your Department may require that you maintain a different GPA which could be higher. It just depends on your Department, so you'll definitely want to make sure that you're well aware of our requirements here, and whatever requirements you have with your Department and that your.
Meeting both of those requirements.
OK so I had just have a couple more things to cover.
Uh, regarding some questions about your California residency so we have some students asking about that.
Hum, so if you have any questions about whether or not you're going to be considered a California resident or whether or not you are going to qualify for an 8540.
A waiver for in state fees you need to contact the registrar's office so if you look at this slide here, we have a registers office link that you can visit and you can contact them to find out the status and more information about these.
And there's also other links here that you can use as reference for other department's on campus.
And let's see there was one question that came through about work study. So basically work study will be offered to students that are eligible.
And it is offered to the student if you're eligible, regardless of whether you're going to be living on campus off-campus or at home.
We don't know what that's gonna look like for this upcoming year though. If if fall uhm ends up being remote, we don't know how the works that he's going to be impacted will just have to wait and see.
Um, 'cause things are changing pretty often so.
Any new information that we have? We will share it with you when it becomes available.
K so I think that is all that I have and I'm sorry if.
If you're having trouble hearing me, I wasn't able to.
But I'm done with the presentation part, so I am going to hand it over to my colleague.
Elizabeth Craney to answer some other questions that you guys have submitted so far. Thank you.
Hello, this is Lizzie. I'm gonna go ahead and go through your questions that you submitted into the chat box.
So we have a lot of follow-up housing questions.
Um, that I'll go ahead and um.
I will put them in the chat box and then I will answer your questions through this web and R.
Rodolfo
02:34:51 PM
Will housing take the money directly out of financial aid?
So someone asked will housing costs be directly taken out of their financial aid package? So how it works is if you do plan on living on campus and the housing office charges you your housing costs on your thought account, then yes, that rent will be paid for by your financial aid at the beginning of each quarter.
Someone else asked if I live at home for fall quarter, but live on campus for winter and spring quarter will will my.
Derek
02:35:37 PM
If I live at home for fall quarter but live on campus for winter and spring quarter, what will my award look like?
I'm so basically if you're living at home for fall quarter, you would need to contact us if you plan on changing your housing, you can report that on report my changes on line on your my aid portal.
We will then revise your financial aid package to consider those additional housing costs that you have and that can be in the form of either grants or loans, just depending on your financial aid eligibility.
OK, I'm regarding the middle class scholarship and how that works. We will get a uhm your award letter sometime in the summer. However, um it does take into consideration all of your financial aid in the form of grants, so we won't be awarding middle class scholarship until approximately.
Late October early November, you won't be able to rely on the middle class scholarship to pay any of your fall fees. However, you could get a reimbursement if you later qualify for middle class after your falsies or paid.
Mina
02:36:57 PM
Do you know when we will learn about the middle class scholarship and how that all works?
Bianca
02:37:08 PM
what happens if i decline a loan?
What happens if I decline alone?
So you can go ahead and decline alone on your my aid award and that will be available still throughout the year for you to accept it again. If you wish to. If it's not available to accept again, you can contact our office and we will be able to offer you the loan again.
Also, there's not a deadline on, um, applying for the loans you have all year to apply for them. However, it's highly recommended you borrow the loan if you need it for fees or housing cost prior to your fee in housing deadlines.
September 15th is your fall quarter fee deadline.
I'm usually October 1st. Is your housing deadline, so you want to make sure you apply at least a few weeks ahead of time for your loans.
And follow the items on your my to do lists for your specific loan type.
What if I already accepted my financial aid awards, but then was asked to provide the verification form? do I need to accept the words again once it is available?
And the answer to that is yes. Um, for the entering students we had awarded you prior to selecting you for verification forms just so that you can make an informed decision on your student intent to register by the published deadlines.
However, after you have submitted your Sir if fast, the selected you for verification we are required to collect those documents. In some cases, those documents could affect your financial eligibility because we could have to make corrections to some items you provided on the Fasa.
Um, now based on your the accurate tax information, W Twos and and so forth, so that could change your financial aid eligibility, which then we'd awards you again with your new financial aid package and you are required to accept that.
Ally
02:39:33 PM
What if I already accepted my financial aid awards but then was asked to provide the verification form? Do I need to accept the awards again once it is available?
Rojina
02:40:27 PM
Hello good afternoon! I was wondering when will we be notified about the scholarships we have been awarded?
And so someone is asking when you'll be notified about um scholarships that you may have applied for. So our scholarship office is working all summer on proving those scholarships. So you should hear something you know, sometime between now and before fall begins.
But if you have any specific questions about scholarships you applied for, you can contact our scholarship office and that's scholarships at uci.edu.
And they'll be able to answer your email in a few weeks.
Someone's asking how you can contact our office during the pandemic. Unfortunately, at the moment we're only accepting emails. We do have limited stuff available, working remotely from home. We don't have phone access at the moment.
However, we're taking inquiries via email.
And we thank you for your patience on waiting for us to answer your emails. We do have in numbers in the thousands with limited stuff available. So like Daisy mentioned, we are hosting these webinars so that you get your questions answered. If you missed a webinar that you might be interested in, We are posting that on our homepage.
And that is under news and announcements.
You may be able to view different topics such as summer, Aiden and such.
Rojina
02:41:38 PM
How can we contact financial aid office during this pandemic?
And someone asked if there was a form, um, if your income tax changed after you've already submitted it to our office.
Samantha
02:42:07 PM
is there a form if our income tax change?
Um, so the answer to that is.
You can submit a an amended tax return. The name of it is a 1040X, and that's a federal amended income tax return, and that's how you can notify us if your yours or your parents income taxes changed.
Daisy
02:42:38 PM
When can we do the health insurance waiver?
I'm so you can apply for the health insurance waiver sometime in the summer, I believe after July 1st, however, you would apply through the student Health Center office.
Um, so that wouldn't be, um, through our office. How we would note, get notified once you're approved, and that could cause changes to your financial aid award.
Frida
02:43:10 PM
when will we know if we qualify for work study? If we don't get selected on the 1st round can we be considered later
Um, since it is a waiver waving the cost of the health insurance.
Celeste
02:43:37 PM
what financial aid options are available for families that are unable to meet the efc due to medical reasons?
So if you have an award package right now and it doesn't have work study, uhm, you could contact us in the fall to see if we have a waiting list for work study. Um, an if you qualify based on financial need then we will award you at that time.
Celeste
02:43:46 PM
for confirmation, only loan amounts can be increased due to higher housing costs, or can grants be adjusted as well?
If we have leftover work study.
What are financial aid options available for families that are unable to meet the FC portion of their financial aid due to medical reasons? As Daisy mentioned earlier, you can apply for a special circumstance request through our office and.
Hillary
02:44:14 PM
if I accept a loan can I decline it if I decide to change my housing situation (living at home rather than on campus)
Uhm, you can email us. Let us know the circumstance. We will then, um, invite you to apply for a special circumstance.
Regarding housing of cost. So if your housing cost is over, the cost of attendance on our website.
So currently we have UM costs.
Celeste
02:44:59 PM
if we decline the health insurance waiver offered to us, can we still use the funds toward the tuition or other fees?
On our website for housing, living on campus, at home or off-campus apartment. So if your housing cost is more than that, you can apply for a budget increase request. We would most likely ask you for your lease agreement, but currently at the moment we would only be increasing your budget and your financial aid package to increase loan eligibility.
So if you've already maxed out on your student loans, we would offer in your dependent student. We would offer your parent additional parent plus loan to apply for. You can also take advantage of alternative student loans.
If you don't have any more loan eligibility.
If I accept a loan, I can decline it.
If I accept alone, can I decline it if I decide to change my housing situation? Living at home rather than living on campus? Yes, you can decline it if you haven't completed the loan documents yet. Usually once you've completed the loan documents, we process your loan. So then it's already an active loan. In that case, you would need to submit a loan cancellation form to our office.
You can Mail or fax that it would cancel the loan for you depending on where you are in that, um, timing. If the loans already paid out to you, then once you cancel the loan, we'd create a bill on yours out account for you. That's where you would need to repay the loan.
If we declined the health insurance waiver offered to us, can we still use the funds tored the tuition or other fees?

If we decide to live off campus, who should we tell? I emailed about a month and a half ago, to both financial aid and housing. Housing just said to email financial aid. And will living off campus negatively impact financial aid?
I'm so if you need to cancel the health insurance waiver because you already have health insurance, um, then you would be charged that additional cost 2 years old account is currently the health cost is included in the campus fees.
Um so we. Uhm we charge everyone up front for your campus fezan. That's already including the health cost.
Um, so if you're waving out, you're gonna get a waiver to waive that portion of your campus fees. However, if you don't wave out, you are responsible to pay that portion of the fees an it's lumped all in the fees for fall for each quarter so.
Your financial aid would pay that directly if you have enough financially to pay it. Otherwise, if you don't, you have to pay that out of pocket.

for confirmation, only loan amounts can be increased due to higher housing costs, or can grants be adjusted as well?
If we decide to live off-campus, who should we tell?
I emailed about a month ago.
To both financially Dan Housing housing said just to email financial aid.
And will living off-campus negatively impact my family financial aid?
I'm so if you decide to change your mind and live off-campus instead of on campus or.
Change your mind from at home to living in an off campus apartment. You can notify us by logging into my aid.
An clicking report my changes.
Um, there we will get your notification and will be able to revise your financial aid within two to three weeks usually.
And the other part of your question, um, will it negatively affect your financial aid? So it depends. If you are living a few reported living at home and now going to an office campus apartment, we would increase your financial aid by that difference in housing costs.
And that could be in the form of grants or loans.
If you go from living on campus to living off campus, as you can see on the screen.
Living on campus is slightly a little bit more that we estimate. Uhm, so in that case your living off-campus budget would decrease slightly.
For confirmation only loan amounts can be increased due to higher housing costs or can grants be adjusted as well.

If you are a first-time borrower, you must complete an online entrance counseling quiz and the master promissory note before you can receive your loan funds. How will this be done?
So at the moment, um, that's still under discussion. However, generally speaking, if your housing cost is more than the allotted budget, you would need to apply for a.
An appeal which is a budget increase request and if that's approved then we generally would offer you more loans. In that case, I'm however that still being discussed at the moment, so we don't know if there's any change to that to offer grants.
OK, I'm going to review. We have about 10 minutes left so I'm gonna review some of the other.
Questions in the chat box.
OK, so Belinda asked if you're a first time borrower.

Do you know when housing offers will be assigned?
And we will process that once we're ready to send your financial aid over to your students ought account, you'll see that appear in your zod account an usually in the summer will go ahead and send your fall financial aid.
In August, so approximately a month before fees are do. As long as you're enrolled in at least half time. Then we would be able to transfer those funds to yours. Odd account to be able to pay your fees.
If you have any excess loans after your fees are paid, then we would direct deposit that into your bank account or male.
On the first day of the quarter, in that's approximately end of September.
You do not have to use the full amount in loans, so if you wish tomorrow less than what we offered you would go ahead and accept the Mount you like when you click on my 8A word.
There is a box there where you can accept the loan and enter a lesser amount. Just keep in mind that the amount that you borrow we will split that evenly into 3/4. So if you decide to borrow $3000, we would split the loan into threes for the three quarters, $1000 each quarter so you won't see the full 3000 up front. You'll see the first thousand appearance years old account for fall.
And then we won't send the rest of the 2/3 of the loan until winter and spring.
We do not know when housing offers will be assigned.
Um, that would be up to the housing office.
Um, so you would want to contact them directly.

Does my cal grant award affect the UCI Grant amount?

I was awarded a Chancellor's scholarship will that affect my financial aid award?
Does my Cal grant award affect the UCI grant amount? So it depends on if you already have a financial aid package right now and you have both the Cal Grant and the UCI grant, then that's your financial aid package. It shouldn't affect you, however, if you only have the UCI grunt in your package right now and you are expecting to get the Cal Grant later on, that could affect your UCI ground, so you're only able to have.
Uh, one funding source for the systemwide fees? I'm so if you already have the 12,500 covered from Cal Grant then you wouldn't be able to have both awards in some cases.
However, if you already have your package like I mentioned before, and it has both awards, than most likely should be fine.
If you were awarded a Chancellor Scholarship, Uhm, it should already be apart of your financial aid award.
Um, so then you should be able to see your award as is now. However, if it years Chancellor Scholarship hasn't been awarded to you yet.
Um, then it could uhm change your financial aid awards. Generally we would reduce your need based loans first.

Just to double check, if we receive any private scholarships they will be added in a way that fulfills our overall cost of attendance right? If the scholarship covers more than the cost of attendance, then the grants/loans will be adjusted?
Yeah, there was a follow-up question regarding any private scholarships added into your financial aid package.
So that's correct if your up if you have room in your cost of attendance, then uhm, then you know that scholarship will be able to be added to your financial aid package.
If your scholarship covers more than your cost of attendance, uhm.

02:55:51 PM
what is the deadline to accept loans?
Yes, your financial aid will be adjusted, so if you currently have grants and loans and then you let us know later about an outside scholarship, you're going to receive, we will reduce your other financially to fit that into your cost of attendance.
Generally we start with the need based loans. First we would reduce the higher interest loans first to fit your scholarship into your financial aid package.

Hello, I have a question about My to do list part. When I checked my To do list there is no forms that need to be completed there were just some information forms there about different grant and conditions for loans, so it means I don't have to upload or complete any documents or forms?
